Why galvanize iron?
Iron is a widely used material in construction, manufacturing, and metal fabrication. However, it is naturally prone to rust when exposed to moisture, oxygen, or pollutants. Hot-dip galvanizing is the most effective solution to protect iron components and structures from corrosion over time.
By immersing iron in molten zinc at around 450°C, a durable and tightly bonded coating is formed. This protective layer prevents oxidation and enhances the mechanical resilience of the metal.
Benefits of hot-dip galvanizing for structural iron
- Superior corrosion resistance: Effective even in outdoor humid or industrial environments
- Uniform coating: Covers all surfaces including corners and internal areas
- Low maintenance: Once galvanized iron structures require minimal upkeep for decades
- Strong adhesion: The zinc coating becomes an integral part of the iron resistant to peeling or flaking
- Standards-compliant: Treatments follow ISO 1461 and other international galvanizing regulations
Common applications
Hot-dip galvanized iron is used in a variety of applications:
- Structural frameworks for buildings and warehouses
- Fencing gates and guardrails
- Poles staircases ladders and balconies
- Industrial shelving and storage systems
- Infrastructure and outdoor installations
